Yellowstone : the first national park in the world
Yellowstone National Park is probably the most famous park in the USA, and maybe in the world. It's also the oldest national park in US (created in 1872).
We arrive in Yellowstone from the east entrance, after a few days in Codie. First we drive through Buffalo Bill SP.
Once in Yellowstone, we can feel that it's low season : just a few of the campgrounds and other facilities are open, one road is closed. But it also means that the park is less crowded... This is an opportunity for us to enjoy wildlife without buses of tourists.
On our road to the campground, we are stopped by a little crowd along the road. Three park rangers and 20/25 persons are looking in the forest. We quickly understand why : a grizzli is eating 200 yards from the road. The animal is huge ! That kind of observation is very rare, and we are very Lucky to have see it.
Yellowstone is a thermal paradise : geysers, hotsprings, mudpots... It's very impressive ! So is the sulfur smell... These colorfull hotsprings make the park famous !
Another wildlife you can easily observe here : bisons. Yellowstone NP is home of herds of bisons. You can't drive throught the park without seing them.
You can also see some pronghorn, big horn sheeps and black bears.
After one week in this paradise, it's time to leave. We visit Jackson and Grand Teton NP.
We continue our route towards the South, and a state full of beauties : Utah !
