Arches and Canyonland
There are five national parks in Utah, all situated in the southern part of the state. We begin our visit with Arches NP. This part of Utah was once covered by water (300 millions years ago...). Time, erosion and this water carved some of the most beautifull landscapes we have seen.
Because of a long Holiday week end, all campgrounds are full. We were Lucky to find one on BLM land, along the Colorado River and offered to share it with other travellers seeking for a place to sleep : this is how we met George and Jean. They are from Nevada, are retired, and just began a 3 months road trip around USA. We have real great time together, and they make us promess we will visit them and their sons (in Nevada, California, and Texas) during our trip. Thanks to them, we decide to change a little bit our future route to discover Lake Tahoe. Thank you George and Jean !
Another erosion conséquences are canyons. Before visiting Grand Canyon, we can discover some of them in Canyonlands NP. We decide to reach this park using a well known backdoor dirt road : Potash Road !
In Canyonland, we take a walk to some Puebloans remains.
Our friends George and Jean offered us these steaks, it's time for a great meal ! (thanks again !)
